Three Peaks of My Imagination

I’ve always been drawn to simplicity and minimalism. I find beauty in history and art, in the way that simple shapes and forms can awaken something deeper within us. Simplicity, beauty, and the power to awaken the senses: these are the three peaks of my imagination —and of my artwork in general. I especially love when art isn’t what it seems at first glance. When one image holds many interpretations. When each viewer sees something different—or even when the same person returns to a piece and discovers something entirely new.
This particular work was born from a mix of Asian-style ink washes, watercolour, and sketch techniques. It emerged without a plan, guided by intuition rather than intention. Lines gradually took shape, forming what looked like mountains. Bold strokes added depth and dimension. Like a hidden landscape slowly revealing itself through mist and clouds, this image rose from my imagination almost on its own.
That creative process always feels a little magical. Watching something complex and full of meaning come to life from nothing makes me wonder: Was the image always there, simply waiting to be seen? Was it obscured until that moment, destined to appear when the time was right? Is there symbolism hidden in this process?
These thoughts pull me deeper into the nature of art itself. How do lines and shapes come together in our minds to form meaning? How does the artist’s hand know when to begin, and when to stop? Is this something that can be learned, or is it purely intuition? A vision we’re born with? And why does each viewer perceive the same artwork differently—yet share common impressions with others? Do the thoughts art provokes come from within us, or do they live in the work itself, waiting to be discovered?
So many questions. And maybe there are no answers. Maybe that’s the point.
When I began this piece, I felt a rush of inspiration—an eagerness to experiment, to try something new, but still stay true to my style. It was a wonderful realisation that there are beautiful landscapes waiting quietly inside my imagination, just beneath the surface, ready to be explored.
I’m happy to present Tres Picos—an imaginary place in an imaginary world. Yours, or mine? Enjoy the journey.
